For those that have never been to Zimbabwe before, or even Zambia, you have more than likely never seen Victoria Falls. It is one of those unique natural creations that is incredible to see in images, and in videos, but there is nothing quite like it until you see it in person. I went there recently, taking a trip to specifically see Victoria Falls, and I also did see a few other places on my way there. However, the focus of this summary of my trip to Victoria Falls will give you an eye-opening account of why you ought to plan a trip like this for yourself.

Where Is Victoria Falls?

As I mentioned earlier, I headed into areas of Zimbabwe and Zambia, specifically where the two come together. It was actually named by a Caucasian individual that decided that was its name, although it was called Mosi-oa-Tunya by the natives. If you translate that into English, or any other language, it comes out to The Smoke That Thunders. It is one of the most impressive waterfalls that you will ever see, one that is the results of the raging Zambezi River, and it is located directly between where Zambia and Zimbabwe meet.

What We You See When You Go There?

There are so many things that you can see once you get to Zimbabwe, or when you travel through Livingstone in Zambia. The people there are very used to the tourism that this location attracts, and there will be many vendors that are selling different products. It actually initiated the incredible amount of tourism that these areas receive which is very helpful for the local economy. There are bridges that you can cross, and there is also the wonderful Victoria Falls Hotel which was built to accommodate all of the tourists.

What Are Some Of The Best Features Of Victoria Falls?

The first thing you should know is that each of the countries is very happy to have tourists come through. Roughly half a million people visit there every year, and it can be accessed by taking a train or a bus. You must purchase a single entry visa when you go in, primarily because you are crossing the border of the countries. They can cost as much is $80 in American money, and some of the best features that you will see include the Armchair, or what has recently been called the Devils Pool, which puts you right on the edge of the Falls. It literally looks like you are about to go over, but the water is so shallow and slow, there is no worry that this will ever occur. It's a great place for photos, along with many other parts of the tour that you will take that will show you this magnificent waterfall.

It is highly recommended that you go and I did which was during peak season travel. As long as you book your flight and hotel several months out, you can save money and also be guaranteed a room. It is well worth the several days that you will spend traveling from your part of the world to this destination. It is simply an awe-inspiring place to visit by yourself, or it could be a romantic trip with a significant other. Either way, this is one of my favorite trips, and if you do have the funds to do so, it is highly recommended. There is really no waterfall in the world that can compare to this one, a waterfall that is regarded by many to be one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
